15th Euro Fed Lipid Congress
Oil, Fats and Lipids: New Technologies and Applications for a Healthier Life
27-30 August 2017, Uppsala, Sweden
hosted by the Nordic Lipidforum

[updated 28.02.2017]

Dear Colleagues,
A warm welcome to the 15th Euro Fed Lipid Congress!

Proud host is Nordic Lipidforum which this year celebrates 65 years since the very first meeting in Halmstad, Sweden, 1952. We are now very happy to welcome you to Uppsala, a lively university city characterized by charm, famous scientists and, of course, its students. Our venue, Uppsala Concert & Congress (UKK), is very centrally located within short walking distance from the train station, all hotels and the historical center of Uppsala. Also, the airport is just 18 min train ride away!

The theme of this years´ congress reflects the great importance of oils, fats and lipids for a healthy life through its multiple functions in all aspects of human life and care. With the present theme in mind, the Scientific committee, coordinated by Ingrid Undeland (Chalmers University of Technology) and Bengt Herslöf (Lipidor AB) has created a program with strong key note speakers, invited lectures, award lectures and volunteer lectures.

Further to sessions which follow the division structure of Euro Fed Lipid, we are featuring three extra topics which we hope can attract both first-time and frequent attendees to the congress; Lipids in formulation of pharma and cosmetics, Lipids in novel foods, and Lipid soluble contaminants. To acknowledge the importance of posters, short oral poster pitches will be offered, and poster titles will be highlighted also within the oral sessions.

Altogether, we see a timely and relevant program of very high quality targeting many issues of global importance. We therefore feel confident that congress attendees will experience new findings and knowledge on oils, fats and lipids.

However, a congress should be more than just lectures and posters. As hubs for socializing and networking, coffee breaks, lunches, receptions and conference dinner will this year be enriched with joint morning jogging (first time in EFL-history!) and pub night. It is not unlikely that seeds for new collaboration studies to be presented in coming EFL-meetings will be planted just here! In short, we very much look forward to meeting you in Sweden in August. Most welcome!

Travel

[updated 23.02.2016]

see http://www.destinationuppsala.se/en/Travel/Travel-to-Uppsala/

It's easy and convenient to get to and from Uppsala.
Uppsala is easily reached by train in just 35 minutes from Stockholm and 18 minutes from Stockholm (Arlanda) Airport.

To and from the airport, you can comfortably continue to Uppsala with both the airport buses and direct train, with departures from SkyCity. During the day, buses and trains depart twice an hour. And it is just as easy to travel between Uppsala and Stockholm.

If you wish to travel by taxi, the three largest taxi companies in Uppsala offer fixed prices for travel between Uppsala and Arlanda. If traveling by car from Stockholm or Arlanda Airport, follow E4 north towards Uppsala, following the signs towards Sundsvall. At Uppsala, take exit 186 towards Uppsala S and then follow the signs to the city.

If driving from Enköping, take Route 55 north. When you get to Uppsala, make a right at Enköpingsvägen and continue in to the city center.

From Gävle, take E4 south towards Uppsala/Stockholm. At Uppsala, take exit 188 towards 55/Strängnäs/288/Östhammar. At the first traffic circle, take the first exit onto Route 55/72 towards Strängnäs and then continue straight through the next traffic circle you come to. From there, follow the signs in to the city.

Congress Dinner

[updated 06.12.2016]

kindly sponsored by AAK

29. August 2017 at the former hall of state at Uppsala castle.

Dinner Gustav Vasa began construction of Uppsala Slott in 1549, and the castle was destined to play a major role for many years in the history of Sweden and of Uppsala.

The castle was seriously damaged by fire in 1702, being reduced essentially to a ruin. Reconstruction took many years, and was indeed hampered by the remains of the castle being used as a quarry for stone to be used in building Stockholm Palace.

The building was the administrative centre of Uppland for many years, and is today the residence of the County Governor of Uppsala County.

Rikssalen, the former Hall of State, whose uses have included that of drying closet for the governor's wife, was restored in 1932 and is now Uppsala's most glittering festive location.

Price: 95 Euro plus VAT
Reduced price* for students, sponsored by AAK: 60 Euro plus VAT

*The reduced students tickets sponsored by AAK are limited in number and are only available in combination with a confirmed students congress registration. They are allocated on a first-come-first-served basis until the contingent is expired.
