Cardiolipin as Key Lipid of Mitochondria in Health and Disease
17 September 2013, Bari, Italy

[updated 07.06.2013]

Dear colleague,

The final program of the cardiolipin mini meeting in Bari is now available.

Bari is a beautiful old town facing the Adriatic in southern Italy.

A quick reminder. The cardiolipin minimeeting is a satellite of the 54th ICBL (International Conference on Bioscience of Lipids @ http://www.icblbari2013.org).
The cardiolipin session will start in the morning of September 17 and will end in the afternoon, about one hour before the opening of the main meeting.

At the minimeeting, Peter Slotte and Sergio Papa will welcome participants. We plan to have 6 speakers in the morning and 3 in the afternoon. There will be a quick lunch on site in between the morning and afternoon sessions.

This one-day-workshop will offer the opportunity to discuss various aspects of cardiolipin role in biomembranes. The workshop will address 3 main topics: 1) interactions with respiratory complexes and other mitochondrial proteins, 2) role in membrane dynamics and morphology, 3) structural and functional analogies with prokaryotic cardiolipins. With this program, we hope to raise the interest of many researchers interested in the mitochondrial biochemistry and physiology.

In the past months we have been looking for sponsorships; today, we are proud to announce that we got some financial help from the Barth Syndrome Foundation plus contributions from Bruker Daltonics and Avanti Polar Lipids. However, the meeting remains on a low budget and we are profondly grateful to all the invited speakers that will afford travel expenses to reach Bari.

Looking forward to hearing from you soon

Angela and Michael
