Fat Analysis: 15th
Proficiency Test 2009
by the German Society
for Fat Science (DGF) and the European Federation for the Science and
Technology of Lipids (Euro Fed Lipid)
Interlaboratory
comparison tests serve laboratories to check applied
methods and to recognize systematic errors. They are a central part of
every quality assurance system. The DGF herewith announces the 15th
interlaboratory comparison test for fat analysis to be carried out in
2009. Regularly 100 laboratories take part.
Samples:
different blends of vegetable oils, olive oil, animal
and fish oils
Parameters:
• Acid Value (Free Fatty Acids)
• Peroxide Value
• Anisidine Value
• Polar components in used deep frying oils and
fats
• Polymerised triacylglycerols in used deep
frying fats and non-refined vegetable oils
• Butyric Acid
• Tocopherol distribution, tocopherol content
• Sterol distribution, total sterol content
• Triacylglycerol distribution by GC
• Triacylglycerol (ECN 42) by HPLC
• Stigmastadiene

• NEW: Identification of an Oil or the
components in a blend
• NEW: Identification and determination of two
antioxidants (BHT, BHA,TBHQ,Gallates)
NEW 2 June: low molecular weight
chlorinated hydrocarbons
Each laboratory may choose an individual set of parameters from the
list above. The execution and the evaluation of the laboratory
comparison test are carried out according to the internationally
recognized recommendations ,,Proficiency Testing Of Laboratories" of
Codex Alimentarius and ISO regarding the check list for the IS0/IEC
guide for 43-1 for ,,Proficiency Testing by lnterlaboratory Comparisons
Part 1 (1996)".
